Nationalkommittén för matematik

Sponsored by: Swedish Research Council

The Swedish National Committee for Mathematics arranges a free of charge public symposium in Stockholm, November 9th, 2013. The talks, given in Swedish, have titles that can be translated to:”So do numerical models for weather-  and climate-forecasts work” , “Even living fish follows the stream”,  “Can mathematics cure cancer?”, and “The role of mathematics for solving the earth’s energy problems”.

Below is a short description in Swedish, here is a link to a longer description, and here is a link to the poster.

Samuel Bengmark, fil.dr. i matematik, Chalmers
12:40-13:20 Så funkar numeriska modeller som används för väderprognoser och klimatscenarier. Patrick Samuelsson, SMHI
13:25-14:05 Även levande fiskar följer strömmen. Biomatematik där vi lär av naturen.David Sumpter, professor i tillämpad matematik, Uppsala universitet
14:05-14:35 Kaffepaus
14:35-15:15 Matematik botar cancer? Helen Avelin, fil.dr i matematik,  Elekta Instruments AB
15:20-16:00 Matematikens betydelse för att lösa jordens energiproblem. Tünde Fülöp, bitr professor i fysik, Chalmers

Plats: ABF-huset, Sveavägen 41, Stockholm.
Föreläsningarna hålls på svenska och är avgiftsfria.
