For the blog today we recommend reading what Kofi Anan wrote for the New York Times this week.
There’s no mathematics in it, but it’s important. Anan writes, “If governments are unwilling to lead when leadership is required, people must. We need a global grass-roots movement that tackles climate change and its fallout.”
The MPE2013 initiative is something of a grass roots movement which is concerned with many issues big and small, including climate change. The mathematical sciences community has focused on these issues perhaps more this year than other years. We need to continue.
Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at AIM!
