On Wednesday, November 6, Inez Fung will deliver a public lecture at the Berkeley City College Auditorium on the topic “Verifying Greenhouse Gas Emissions” as part of their series Not on the Test: The Pleasures and Uses of Mathematics.
Fung has previously delivered one of the MPE 2013 invited lectures. Her MPE lecture was given at the African Institute of Math Sciences; a recording of her lecture is available on their web site. An eloquent speaker for the role of mathematics and computation in climate science, Fung has also delivered technical presentations at SIAM conferences. One such talk led to a SIAM News article in 2010, titled “Mathematical Challenges in Climate Change Science”. Her work was also featured in a SIAM News article by Dana Makenzie in 2007, “Mathematicians Confront Climate Change.”
Inez Fung’s Berkeley public lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m.
